- Marangu Route
Overview
The Marangu Route is the oldest, most well-established route up Mount Kilimanjaro, also nicknamed the “Coca-Cola Route.” It’s the only route that offers pre-built huts for shelter instead of tents. Trekkers stay in dormitory-style bunk beds with mattresses and pillows provided. While the idea of huts might sound appealing to some, it’s important to consider that this route is known for being more crowded compared to others. The short duration of the Marangu Route (5-6 days) can be challenging due to the quick increase in elevation, making acclimatization more difficult. It’s recommended for experienced hikers who are already in good physical condition.
